HOW IT WORKS

Developed by PlanetRock, Rumble Rock is a community service initiative challenging high school students, in groups of ten, to complete a 12-stage crowdfunding campaign to benefit their high school, with funds exclusively allocated for teacher training, new equipment and technology, and sustainable redesign of their campuses. Members of successful teams will each receive $100,000 which can be used (only) for college education, vocational training, and/or lifetime career development. This changes everything.

Round 1 of the Rumble Rock Challenge is only open to high school students.

No.  Any registered high school student is eligible to participate.

I’M GOING TO BE IN HIGH SCHOOL THIS FALL.  AM I ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Participants must be officially registered at a U.S. high school to participate in Rumble Rock.

I CAN’T FIND A GROUP.  CAN YOU HELP?

We wish we could.  Students are required to assemble teams on their own.

HOW DO I ENROLL?

Each member of your ten-person team must receive permission from a parent/legal guardian and the principal of the school that will be receiving funds.

DO YOU VERIFY THE ELIGIBILITY OF EACH PARTICIPANT?

When a team petitions to engage the challenge, we contact parents and principals to confirm eligibility.  If the team successfully completes the challenge, we perform a formal financial audit prior to distributing funds into individual trust accounts.

WHAT IF THE PRINCIPAL DOESN’T APPROVE MY PARTICIPATION?

Student must have official approval from the host principal in order to participate.

AFTER WE FINISH REGISTERING, HOW SOON CAN WE GET STARTED?

After your registration is reviewed and verified (about seven business days), you will receive an Invitation to Participate, via email, with details regarding the day and time when your challenge begins.

IS THIS AN “ALL OR NOTHING” CAMPAIGN, LIKE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGNS, OR A FLEXIBLE, “KEEP WHAT YOU RAISE” CHALLENGE LIKE SOME INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGNS?

This is an all or nothing challenge.  If  teams are not able to complete all twelve (12) stages, no money is exchanged and no rewards are earned.

IS THAT REALLY FAIR, TO MAKE THIS ALL OR NOTHING?

We can’t say it’s fair.  We can say, however, that it is one of the primary features fueling crowdfunding success.

HOW MUCH TIME IS AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE ALL 12 STAGES?

Teams have 30 days to complete all twelve stages.

IF WE FAIL TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE, MAY WE TRY AGAIN?

Yes.  All teams are encouraged to try until you succeed.

IF I ALREADY PARTICIPATED ON A SUCCESSFUL TEAM, MAY I COMPETE AGAIN?

Yes, but only if you are still enrolled in high school.

CAN A HIGH SCHOOL HAVE MORE THAN ONE TEAM COMPETING IN RUMBLE ROCK?

Yes.

CAN A HIGH SCHOOL HAVE MORE THAN ONE TEAM COMPETING IN RUMBLE ROCK AT THE SAME TIME?

Yes.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE AMOUNT OF MONEY A HIGH SCHOOL MAY RECEIVE VIA RUMBLE ROCK?

No.  There is no limit.

HOW ARE FUNDS GIVEN TO THE SCHOOL?

After successful completion of the challenge, recipient high schools receive $1,000,000 in the form of a new debit account.

IF STUDENTS RAISE $1,024,000 IN THE FINAL STAGE, WHY DO SCHOOLS ONLY RECEIVE A MILLION DOLLARS?

The remaining funds are designated to cover credit card processing fees.  At the conclusion of our financial audit, schools will receive one million dollars plus whatever is left over after all credit card payments have been processed (no more than $24,000).

WHO MANAGES THE MONEY ONCE IT REACHES THE SCHOOL?

Rumble Rock funds are managed and distributed by the head principal of the school.

HOW ARE SCHOOL EXPENDITURES VERIFIED?

The participation agreement requires all principals to publicly display, online, with receipts, the allocation of every penny received from Rumble Rock students.  Spending reports may also be accessed at rumblerock.org.

HOW ARE REWARD FUNDS DISPERSED TO STUDENTS?

Successful RumbleRockers receive a debit account which can be used – ONLY – at approved academic institutions and educational programs.

HOW SOON DO STUDENTS RECEIVE FUNDS IN THEIR ACADEMIC TRUST?

RumbleRockers will receive their funds approximately 21 days after the conclusion of the challenge.

HOW SOON CAN STUDENTS BEGIN USING THEIR ACADEMIC TRUST?

RumbleRockers may begin using their educational trust immediately after receiving funds.

HOW DO I PAY USING MY TRUST?

Your RumbleRock account operates exactly like any other debit card, except that it’s valid only at approved academic institutions and educational programs.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
